In February 2007 I got the brilliant idea to cycle from Kiruna in the north of Sweden to Smygehuk, the very south point of Sweden. The idea came to me during a leaving party for a former collegue which tells you all you need to know. The day after I bought myself a proper bike and started training.
In the end I only managed to get two weeks of work leaving me a trip consisting of 10 days on the bike, 120 miles per day and one rest day. This was to much and my left knee gave up after four days and ~440 miles.
I couldn't really let the idea of doing this ride go though. It's been at the back of my head all the time and last year I couldn't resist it any more. Back in September 2011 I mentioned this to my manager and by January I had secured 8 weeks off in the summer. I was on my way.

I have also cycled in the south which, funnily enough, is just as empty as the north.
